AI Ready ASEAN Program

A flagship digital initiative by the ASEAN Foundation, made possible through a USD 5 million grant from Google.org, with the mission of significantly boosting AI literacy across all ten ASEAN Member States. Running for 2.5 years after its launch in 2024, the programme equips ASEAN citizens—particularly youth, educators, parents, and underserved communities—with the skills and knowledge to understand, use, and critically engage with AI in today’s digital age. Its activities include training 2,000 master trainers to cascade AI learning to over 800,000 community members, conducting regional research to guide policy and curriculum, developing a multilingual e-learning platform, convening policy dialogues on responsible AI governance, and raising public awareness on the ethical and societal dimensions of AI.

In the Philippines, iLab ARAL, Inc. partnered with Break The Fake Movement (BTFM) to deliver AI-Ready ASEAN training in the Bicol Region, extending the programme’s reach to local communities and ensuring that the benefits of AI education are inclusive and accessible. AI Ready ASEAN supports the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025 and the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement, ultimately aiming to reach 5.5 million people across the region and build a future-ready generation prepared to thrive in an AI-driven world. This initiative also aligns with iLab ARAL’s broader efforts to strengthen digital skills through KA-HUSAY-AN, its digital career skills development program, as well as its AI literacy initiatives, AI for EveryJuan and AI-Smart Schools.
